For Pool Pumps

*Oversizing or undersizing pumps in relation to pool and plumbing sizes will result in less than optimal filtering efficiency.

*Pumps should be elevated 4-6 inches from ground level to extend motor life.

*Regularly clear debris from pump and filter areas to promote motor cooling and extend operating life.

*Install motor cover to protect from extreme weather.

For Pool Filters

*Oversizing cartridge filters will enhance filtration efficiency.

*Oversizing or undersizing D.E. or Sand filters will result in less efficient filtration.

For Pool Heat Pumps

*Heat pumps are the most efficient method to maintain pool water temperatures…35-45% of the cost of natural gas and less than 30% of the cost of propane gas. (depending on geographic location)

*Your owner’s manual will specify proper installation steps and placement distances.

For Pool Cleaners

*Electronic controlled and pressure cleaners are best utilized in heavy debris areas.

*Suction side cleaners with Arneson Debris Canisters added help prevent suction pipe and pump clogging.

For Heaters
1. Check your pool chemistry regularly to maintain top operating
condition.
2. Use a pool cover or thermal blanket on your pool when it’s not in
use. Evaporation accounts for 70% of heat loss from your pool.
3. Add wind breaks to your pool. A 7-mph wind at the surface of a pool
can increase energy consumption 300%!

Inground Pool Gas Heaters—Recommended sizing--BTU’s

Pool surface area:  Sq.Ft Minimum Size BTU output (000’s):
900 400
700 350
500 250
300 200

Spa Gas Heating Effectiveness Examples
Heater BTU output (000’s): 150 250 350 400

Spa size (gals.) Time (mins.) to increase water temperature 30 degrees:
400 50 30 21 19
600 75 45 32 28
800 100 60 43 37
1000 125 75 54 47

*Over sizing your heater will mean quicker warm ups, greater efficiency and energy savings.

*Your owner’s manual will specify proper installation steps and safe placement distances from buildings, windows, etc.

Note: All indoor heater installations must include an indoor adaptor kit to vent the heater outside of the enclosure.  Propane gas heaters installed outdoors should have a High Wind Stack to prevent the pilot-light from blowing out.
